As a General Law Village, the Village of Lakeview remains part of Cato Township and maintains a close administrative relationship with the Township.
Regular meetings of the Cato Township Board are typically held on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Meeting dates and times may be adjusted due to holidays or other scheduling needs.

Notice of Special Meeting The July Board of Review

Act 14 of 1985, being Section 211.53 (b) of the General Property Tax Act, provides for corrections of clerical errors and errors due to a mutual mistake of fact and consideration of appeals related to the Qualified Agricultural Exemption, Taxable Value Uncapping, and the Poverty Exemption, upon verification by the local assessing officer and approved by the Board of Review at a meeting held for that purpose, during the week of the third Monday in July per Public Act 122 of 2008. On Monday, July 20, 2026, a meeting will be called for this purpose at 11:00 AM at the Cato Township Community Center, 309 S Lincoln Ave, Lakeview, MI 48850, to conduct business as provided for in Section 211.53 (b), Michigan Compiled Laws. Beginning on July 11th, 2022 – effective immediately per Public Act 141 of 2022 – the Board of Review no longer has the authority to grant the Principal Residence Exemption (PRE). Late-filed PREs (Form 2368) and supporting documentation must be filed with the assessor. This notice is posted in compliance with the Open Meetings Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services who are planning to attend the meeting should notify the Clerk, Ginger Imhoff, (989) 330-5770 within a reasonable time in advance of the meeting.

Notice of Special Meeting Cato Township Election Commission

The Cato Township Election Commission will hold a special meeting on Friday July 10th 2026 at 10:00A.M. at the Township Community Center, 309 S Lincoln Ave, Lakeview, MI 48850. At this special meeting, the Cato Township Election Commission will discuss and consider election inspectors and the election chairperson for the August 4th primary election. The Election Commission may also discuss and consider any other business to lawfully come before the Election Commission.
This notice is posted in compliance with P.A. 267 of 1976 as amended (Open Meetings Act) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The Cato Township Election Commission will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities at the meeting upon 3 days’ prior notice. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Township Supervisor (616) 824-4568.
